Germany to replace gas from Russia with LNG only by 2026

BERLIN, Jan 24 (PRIME) -- Germany will be able to replace natural gas supplies with liquefied natural gas (LNG) comparable in volume to the stopped gas supplies from Russia only by 2026, German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the incoming volume of LNG is estimated to be 13.5 billion cubic meters a year in 2023, 37 and 49.5 billion cubic meters in 2024 and 2025, respectively. And only in 2026, the ministry indicates a number comparable to the volume of gas supplies discontinued from Russia – 56 billion cubic meters.
